We provide diagnostics, scheduled maintenance and repairs for the Ford Transit in Tallinn. We work on panel vans, minibuses and chassis cabs with TDCi and EcoBlue diesel engines. We inspect the engine, clutch and gearbox, brakes, suspension, electrical system and air conditioning, and before any repair we identify the cause of the fault and agree on the scope of work.

Ford Transit diagnostics, maintenance and repair
The Ford Transit is built as a panel van, minibus and chassis cab, with front-, rear- or all-wheel drive. The engine, gearbox and running gear depend on the version, so we diagnose a fault before repairing it and plan maintenance according to the service schedule for the specific vehicle, its mileage, service history and operating conditions.
Computer diagnostics
We read control-unit fault codes, analyse live data and test the related electrical circuits. A fault code is a starting point for diagnosis, not a reason to replace a component without further checks.
Scheduled maintenance
We carry out the operations specified in the service schedule: engine oil and filter changes and checks of service fluids, brakes, suspension and auxiliary belts. Materials and the scope of work are based on the engine, model year, mileage and details of the specific Transit.
Mechanical repairs
We diagnose faults in the engine, clutch, gearbox, rear axle, running gear and braking system. The repair scope and required parts are determined after testing the system concerned and inspecting its components.
When a Ford Transit needs diagnostics
Arrange an inspection if the vehicle’s behaviour changes. A single symptom may have several possible causes, especially on high-mileage vehicles or vans that operate continuously under load.
The Check Engine light is on. A fault message, reduced power or limp mode has appeared.
An AdBlue or particulate filter warning. A message about the AdBlue system or diesel particulate filter has appeared, or a warning that engine starting will soon be restricted.
The engine has lost power. Acceleration is weaker, the engine runs unevenly or fuel consumption has increased.
Clutch or gearbox problems. Gears are difficult to engage, or there is clutch slip, judder when pulling away or a metallic rattle at idle.
Noise or knocking from the running gear. Knocks are heard over uneven roads, there is a hum from the rear axle, the van pulls to one side or the tyres wear unevenly.
Braking behaviour has changed. There is vibration or unusual noise, increased pedal travel or a longer stopping distance.
A leak or overheating has been noticed. There are fluid marks under the vehicle, a fluid level is dropping or the engine temperature is rising.
Starting or electrical problems. The engine is hard to start, the battery runs flat or some electrical systems do not work.
What we check when diagnosing a Ford Transit
Different generations of the Ford Transit use Duratorq TDCi diesel engines, including the 2.2 and 2.4-litre units, and since 2016 the 2.0 EcoBlue with AdBlue (SCR) exhaust treatment and a diesel particulate filter. Drive layouts, gearboxes and gross-weight variants also differ. The checks therefore depend on the exact vehicle version, mileage, equipment and the nature of the fault.
We compare the driver’s description with the visual inspection, stored faults and test results. This helps distinguish a sensor or wiring fault from a mechanical problem and avoids replacing parts without evidence.
- control units, fault codes and live data;
- battery, alternator, starter and high-current connections;
- fuel system, turbocharging, EGR and engine operation;
- AdBlue system and diesel particulate filter;
- clutch, flywheel, gearbox and rear axle;
- brakes, steering and suspension;
- cooling and air-conditioning systems.
What to provide when booking
For an initial assessment, please provide:
- vehicle year, engine and drive type;
- registration number or VIN;
- current mileage;
- when and under what conditions the symptom occurs;
- which warning lights or messages appear;
- any work carried out recently.
If the engine is overheating, the low oil pressure warning is on, braking has noticeably deteriorated or the vehicle cannot be driven safely, stop driving and arrange transport to the workshop.
How a Ford Transit repair is carried out
Repairs start after diagnosis and approval. Before any work begins, we report the test results and agree on the list of operations and a suitable choice of parts.
Vehicle reception
We record the symptoms, mileage, operating conditions and recent repair history.
Diagnostics
We inspect the vehicle, read fault codes and test the systems related to the reported symptom.
Approval
We explain the results and agree on the work, parts and cost.
Repair and final check
We carry out the approved work and verify the result of the repair.
Ford Transit system repairs
We service the main mechanical and electrical systems of the Ford Transit. The scope of work, parts compatibility and timing are determined from the vehicle data and diagnostic results.
Typical jobs include
- TDCi and EcoBlue diesel engine diagnostics and repair;
- timing belt and oil pump belt replacement on 2.0 EcoBlue engines;
- clutch, dual-mass flywheel and gearbox repair;
- AdBlue system, EGR valve and diesel particulate filter diagnostics;
- brake, suspension, steering and rear axle service;
- electrical and starting-system fault finding;
- air-conditioning leak testing, servicing and recharging.
A VIN or registration number is required when ordering parts: Ford Transit vehicles from the same model year may have a different engine, drive type, gearbox and parts specifications.
Scheduled Ford Transit maintenance
Consider mileage and operating conditions
We set Ford Transit service intervals according to the maintenance schedule for the specific engine, mileage and operating conditions. Short urban trips, frequent starts, carrying loads and extended idling are taken into account when planning oil and filter changes and checks of the brakes, clutch and suspension.
On 2.0 EcoBlue engines the timing belt runs in oil. Ford has shortened its replacement interval to 6 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first. Short trips and frequent particulate filter regeneration can let fuel into the oil, which speeds up belt wear. That is why we check the condition of the oil and the belt during maintenance and replace the oil pump belt together with the timing belt.
Book a check at the first symptoms
If your Transit is used for work, book diagnostics as soon as you notice new noises, vibration, warning lights or other changes in how the vehicle behaves. This lets us schedule the repair and order the right parts in advance, reducing the time the vehicle is unavailable for work.
Frequently asked questions about Ford Transit repairs
Can you quote a repair without diagnostics?
A preliminary estimate can be given from the fault description and the vehicle data. A quote is prepared after diagnosis and parts selection. If a final assessment requires dismantling a component, the extent and cost of that work are agreed in advance.
Do you service Ford Transit vans with the 2.0 EcoBlue engine?
Yes. We diagnose and maintain diesel Ford Transit vans, including those with the 2.0 EcoBlue engine and AdBlue system. The available work depends on the engine, vehicle generation and the fault found.
When should the Ford Transit timing belt be replaced?
It depends on the engine. On the 2.0 EcoBlue the timing belt runs in oil; under Ford’s schedule it is replaced every 6 years or 160,000 km together with the oil pump belt. The 2.2 and 2.4-litre TDCi engines use a timing chain. We check the schedule for a specific vehicle using the VIN or registration number.
What should I do if an AdBlue warning appears?
Check the AdBlue level and top up the fluid if needed. If the warning stays on or a countdown to restricted starting appears, book diagnostics: the cause may be a faulty sensor, pump, heater or injector in the AdBlue system.
Why does a Ford Transit lose power?
Loss of power can be caused by faults in the fuel system, intake and turbocharging, the EGR system, diesel particulate filter or AdBlue system, sensors and wiring, or by mechanical engine problems. We identify the cause through diagnosis, not by replacing parts by trial and error.
Can I supply my own parts?
Fitting customer-supplied parts must be agreed before your visit. We check that the parts are correct for the specific vehicle and confirm the terms of the work and warranty in advance.
