About the brand

Hyundai cars

Hyundai Motor Company was founded in South Korea on 29 December 1967 by the brothers Chung Ju-yung and Chung Se-yung. Its name means “modernity” in Korean. The first model, the Cortina, was built in cooperation with Ford in 1968, and in 1975 came the Pony — the first South Korean car, styled by Giorgio Giugiaro of Italdesign. Exports began in 1976, and Hyundai cars soon reached the Benelux countries. For the European market, the brand opened a plant in İzmit, Turkey (1997), a European headquarters in Rüsselsheim, Germany (2003), and a plant in Nošovice, Czech Republic (2008). For your Hyundai to serve you for a long time, it is important to:

  • change the oil and filters to the manufacturer’s schedule for your engine;
  • keep an eye on the suspension, brakes and gearbox.

Hyundai cars sold in Europe commonly have GDI direct-injection and T-GDI turbo petrol engines, CRDi diesels with common-rail fuel injection, DCT dual-clutch gearboxes, and hybrid or electric drive. In 2016 the Ioniq arrived in three versions at once — hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric; the Kona Electric followed in 2018, and the Ioniq 5, built on the E-GMP platform, was named World Car of the Year in 2022. We also carry out minibus repair on the Hyundai H-1, Staria and H350.

When to visit

When should you bring your Hyundai in for service?

Contact our car service in the following cases:

Scheduled maintenance. Servicing to the manufacturer’s schedule helps prevent breakdowns. The list of work depends on the mileage, the engine and the condition of the car — we agree it with you before the work starts.

The DCT gearbox jerks or shifts harshly. Jerking when pulling away and jolts on gear changes are a reason to have the gearbox diagnosed. We then agree the automatic transmission repair with you.

The CRDi diesel smokes or loses power. We run computer diagnostics on the engine, fuel system and turbocharger, then agree the repair with you.

Planning to sell the car. Before selling, you can have diagnostics done and decide from the results what to repair.

Repair

Types of Hyundai repair work

How a Hyundai component — the engine, gearbox, turbocharger or steering rack — is repaired depends on how badly it is damaged:

  • unit repair — we remove the damaged unit and replace it as a whole;
  • individual repair — we remove only the faulty part, check and restore it, then refit it without replacing it with a new one.

We choose the type of repair together with you after the diagnostics.
